*3rd Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment
3/12 is a unique command, which incorporates creative training, in Artillery Support using Unit Deployed Marines (UDP) for a six month period.

At times it may have four Batteries on station within 3/12. These firing batteries come from Hawaii, California, and North Carolina. During the UDP cycle (typically six months) these Batteries can find themselves training on the northern island of Hokkaido all the way down to the lower island of Honshu.

During other times, they may find themselves conducting training with other UDP units near Mt. Fuji. Although these Batteries deploy with adequate personnel support, the Marines permanently stationed within 3/12 (HQ Battery) ensure mission success in regards to the planning and logistics of each operation
